Surgery - Division of Urology
My clinical research focuses on common urologic diseases in children such as prenatal hydronephrosis which can affect up to 5% of live births. I am the site director of the prenatal hydronephrosis registry which tracks outcomes in children and currently has the participation of 8 institutions in North America.
I also have an interest in long-term outcomes of hypospadias, a congenital anomaly of the urethra which requires reconstructive surgery in childhood. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are well-studied in adult surgery, but not well understood when applied to the pediatric population. We are part of a multi-institutional study on pediatric ERAS in children undergoing urologic reconstructive surgery.
